Q: I recently flew and was appalled to learn I had to pay an extra charge for my second checked-in luggage. How am I going to travel next on a trip I’ve planned to Vancouver? My friends are waiting for me there but I don’t know now.

A: With many airlines adding extra charges up to $25 for a second checked-in baggage, you’d think some of us would have hit the roof. But thanks to some interesting marketing gimmicks, some hotels have caught onto this added charge and are currently offering a $25 incentive when you book with them.

Take a hotel in Vancouver for instance. Travelers can take advantage of the “We Got Your Bag” promotion at Kimpton Hotels. Through September 9, show proof of an additional airline baggage charge upon check-in at the Kimpton Pacific Palisades Hotel in Vancouver and you’ll receive a room credit in that amount for up to $25.
