Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: Iím getting confused with all the service charges at airports. What is the situation in Barbados.

A: The Barbados Tourism Authority (BTA) recently announced that the Grantley Adams International Airport (GAIA) in Barbados will be revamping its charges effective February 1st 2007.

There will be a new passenger service charge of around $32Cdn, and about $3.00 Cdn security fee which will replace the current departure tax. When you purchase your airline ticket, the BTA reports the charges and fees will be included in the purchase price. Children under the age of two are exempted from all charges.

The new charges will be used by the Airport Corporation to fund the facilityís development.
