Q: I am thinking of travelling to British Columbia and want to explore the interior by rail and boat as well as doing some hiking along the way. Can you make any suggestions about what I might do and whom I should contact for more information?

A: When I travelled to British Columbia, I took Via Rail's Silver and Blue trip, also known as "The Canadian," on a whirlwind three-day journey. Along the way, we stopped in Jasper, Alberta, and depending on your schedule, you may wish to spend some time exploring the hiking trails there.

Be sure to get a copy of the "Day Hiker's Guide" published by Jasper National Park when you visit their web site at Parks Canada .

For fare, schedule & other information contact Via Rail .
