Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: I'm going to London with my two adult daughters for one week but we want to be able to keep in touch with each other. We are known to wander away from each other when we are shopping and would like to find each other by keeping in touch with a cell phone. Is it possible to obtain them there?

A: Cheap mobile phones are available in Britain with a pay as you go plan. Val Schroder with Visit Britain says one of the largest providers is Orange which offers its customers a pay as you go with telephones starting from as little as 10.00 pounds. For details visit http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/mobile?WT.svl=200.

Another company which also has Orange is Carphone Warehouse. “Probably the largest mobile phone dealer in the UK,” says Val. For details log onto www.carphonewarehouse.com. There’s also a Surrey-based company which offers cell phone rentals if you decide to rent one of their vehicles.
