Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: I've heard stories where one can work for shipping lines. I'm interested in Australia and New Zealand. Any ideas are appreciated.

A: Captain Cook Cruises, Radisson Seven Sea Cruises, Windstar Cruises, and Princess Cruises are just some of the many ocean liners with itineraries to the South Pacific.

For the latest scoop on cruises heading in your direction, cruisemates.com is an excellent web tool that gives you cruise news from a team of staff and editors.

Although US-based, you'll find the write-ups and summaries helpful when it comes to informing you on the cruiselines you have selected.

Cruiseliners certainly have their charm and mystic for those of us who wish to work and see the world at the same time. Most major cruise lines have employment information available on their web sites.

I have several friends who ventured in this direction early in their careers and managed to sail the Caribbean, South China Sea and westcoast from Alaska to California.

They still reminisce about the fond memories. I even know of some who managed to find their significant other and today the couple is blissfully married. Call it Love Boat if you like!
