Q: Am I going to have to pay a departure tax when I leave the Dominican Republic? Friends of ours who got married there two months ago said I would have to. Could you please advise.

A: Yes, the Dominican Republic has a departure tax of $20US or 700 pesos which must be paid for at your airline check-in. This is a separate charge from the $10US tourist card issued for entry. In most cases the tourist card fee is included in your vacation package at the time of booking with your travel agent.
