Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: Our parents who live in Florida during the winter months have asked us to drive their car down for them. I'm unable to but was wondering if it was still possible for them to get their car somehow. Help. I'm stranded.

A: There are some auto transport companies around that find drivers for car owners who may need assistance in driving.

Snowbirds often refer to these companies and from the sounds of your question, it's evident your parents fit the bill of a snowbird, otherwise known as those seniors who venture south, preferably to Florida or Arizona during the winter months.

One company I came across fits this bill. In the business since 1952 and billed as "North America's oldest and largest vehicle shipping company," Auto Driveaway and Driveaway Service have more than 60 offices throughout Canada and the United States.

"We are matchmakers pairing drivers with cars. Travelers are looking for transportation between two geographic points and vehicle owners have asked us to transport vehicles between the same two points. We in Toronto place qualified travelers into the right cars and the match is made," reports the company's web site.

Need more info? Visit the Auto Driveaway web site at ADCToronto.com or call 416-222-4700 in Toronto or toll-free 1 (800) 668-1879.
