Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: When is the Elvis festival this summer? I was thinking of registering my son.

A: The 12th Annual Collingwood Elvis® Festival scheduled July 26-30, 2006 has an online registration form available for tribute artists at its web site, www.collingwoodelvisfestival.com. After April 1st, registration prices are $96.30 for all categories.

Cheques and money orders are payable to Collingwood Elvis Festival, P.O. Box 484, Collingwood, ON L9Y 4B2. Credit cards (VISA/MASTERCARD/AMEX) are also accepted by calling them at toll-free 1-866-444-1162.

The whole event will be packed with round-the-clock activities. Be sure to catch the Friday night street party from 3pm to 11pm and spot Elvis impersonators strutting famous moves from the King of Rock’n’Roll. Over 100 Elvis tribute artists will be on hand at this family-friendly event. The street party has a $3-donation at the gate. Why note bring a lawn chair for the classic car parade?

Organizers swear there isn’t a parade like this anywhere. All Elvis tribute artists will be touring the downtown streets of Collingwood on July 29th from 9am to 11am. It gives the term Elvis sighting new meaning as you see this crowd adorn sunglasses, greased back hair and loads of bling on belt buckles, pants and vests.

The whole festival wraps up with the annual Grand Finals held at the Eddie Bush Memorial arena scheduled on Sunday night 6pm-10pm. After the finals, revelers will celebrate at the “Last Hurrah” Wrap-up Party where they can say “farewell and see you next year” to their new friends.

Other activities include a karaoke pub crawl, a Texas hold’em poker challenge, pancake breakfasts and more.

Tickets are also now on sale. For more information call 1-866-444-1162 or visit the web site.
