Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: Why can't I find flights to Ft. Myers, Florida? There used to be three charters that flew there. I've been flying there for years. Any info is appreciated.

A: As far as Fort Myers, Florida I've been in touch with a spokesperson for the Southwest Florida International Airport located in Fort Myers who advises me that currently there is one daily nonstop between Toronto and Fort Myers via Air Canada. Expect a three-hour trip.

In addition, Canadian travelers have several options for connecting service between Toronto and Fort Myers -- including, but not limited to, Northwest, Delta, US Airways and United Airlines.

Laska Ryan, Aviation Marketing Communications Manager, says, "Our Aviation Market Development staff is continually working to bring in new carriers and enhance the service provided by existing carriers. We hope to increase Fort Myers/Canada service options in the future."

For connecting flights, the travel time is longer, roughly 1.5 to 2 hours or more depending on the stop-over and possible delays. For more information on air travel to Fort Myers, the Southwest Florida International Airport has a web site address at swfia.com
