Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: My aunt is a real Elvis Presley fan. She went to Graceland as a teenager but hasn’t been back. Do you know about any packages I can look into for a visit there?

A: This year tour organizers are honouring the events that sky-rocketed Elvis Presley to fame in 1956 and have dubbed 2006 as the Golden Anniversary for the King of Rock’ n’ Roll. Stay tuned for more news on events and packages throughout the year.

Right now, I came across Sweet Magnolia Tours which has unveiled a wide variety of tour options that include a visit of the famous home located in Memphis Tennessee.

One package appropriately titled Elvis Golden Anniversary 2006 celebrates Elvis’ “break-out year” of 1956. That’s when he released his first RCA single, debuted on television and released his first movie. Now fans will be able to follow in the footsteps of Elvis by visiting some of the locations.

The Elvis Golden Anniversary 2006 package is priced at $465US per couple and includes a two-night stay at the legendary Heartbreak Hotel, a Graceland Platinum tour ticket, a four-hour private all Elvis tour of Memphis.

This part actually incorporates the sites Elvis himself gave as he conducted the first private Elvis tour showing his friends where he worked, played and lived. Venues include Humes High School, Hotel Chisca, the Thunderbird Lounge, Libertyland and the Plaza Cinema and more.
