By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: I missed out on celebrating Mozartís anniversary and really donít want to do the same for Handel. If you have any information on what might be happening on Handel, Iíd really be interested to hear about it.

A: Next year will be the 250th anniversary of this celebrated baroque composerís death. Georg Friedrich Handel, whose many contributions to the world music scene Messiah and Music for the Royal Fireworks to name two, will be showcased throughout many concert halls around the world.

But to really appreciate this musical master be sure to visit his hometown of Halle, affectionately known as the Handel City where a grand Handel Festival will be taking place from June 4-14, 2009.

For tickets, concert venue information and other festival details, visit the Handel Festival 2009 online at http://www.haendelfestspiele.halle.de/en/.

His home, now a museum, is currently undergoing renovations and is scheduled to re-open in April 2009. For museum information along with more descriptions on the 2009 festivities be sure to bookmark, www.haendel2009.com.

In addition, cruise company Peter Deilmann Cruises will celebrates Hšndelís 250th Anniversary with a 13-night baroque music festival aboard the Deluxe MS Deutschland. Cruise itineraries, deck plans and ship photos are online at www.deilmann-cruises.com.
