Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: I was thinking of a cruise either Mediterranean or Caribbean. Could you tell me when is the hurricane season for each area and in your opinion which are the nicer cruise ships. Looking forward to hearing from you.

A: It depends on your schedule. It's best to take a Caribbean cruise in winter months and if you want to go through the Mediterranean, of course spring and summer is the time.

In the Caribbean, the hurricane season is at its height in September and October which makes it difficult to visit, not to mention the unbearable heat and humidity.

If you want tropical climate and white sandy beaches, definitely plan a cruise to the Caribbean. The island hopping cruises are a great introduction to the islands if you've never visited before.

Of course, if you love history, and wish to do some shopping, the Mediterranean is perfect for you. Most cruise liners have their own web sites. Two web sites devoted to cruising are cruise-news.com and cruising.org
