Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: We will be driving from Toronto to Niagara. We'd like to visit wineries in the Niagara Region in October. Where can we get info on maps and events? Any ideas are much appreciated.

A: Expect roughly a one and half hour trip to the Niagara Peninsula. The Official Guide to Wineries of Ontario is a new travel guide that is a great tool for planning a visit to Ontario wine country. It provides contact information for 46 Ontario wineries that are grouped geographically in three colour-coded sections. Accommodations, dining and area attractions are also included.

For a free copy, call 1-800-263-2988. From October 6 through 8, the Wyndham Farm and Vineland Estates will have fresh herb and wine tasting with demonstrations on the principles of food and wine pairing. Hours are 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. It's a no charge event. October 6 through 12th, Strewn Winery will have wine tasting of its Rieslings. The Bar Price is $8.
