Q: My husband and I are planning a first trip to New York City in early June. We're wondering if you can suggest any inexpensive accommodations? We are first time travellers and a little weary about picking from a book. Any tips you can give us on programs would be greatly appreciated.

A: "This summer, visitors and New Yorkers alike can welcome the season with sizzling savings all over town," reports NYC & Company, the city's official tourism marketing organization describing its newest promotions program, the NYC Summer Breaks in a recent press release. This citywide summer savings promotion is expected to offer hundreds of discounts at hotels, Broadway shows, restaurants, cultural attractions and sightseeing tours.

"In addition to taking advantage of Summer Breaks while in NYC this summer, visitors should plan to be in New York for Museum Mile on June 8, when nine of New York's premiere museums open their collective doors for free," says Amy Solomonson, Senior Manager, Communications and adds,"Don't miss June 14th Broadway Under the Stars.

It's here where Broadway performers pay tribute to classic Broadway tunes in the moonlight at Bryant Park." NYC Summer Breaks highlights include: great rates at New York's top accommodations, starting at less than $100US per room per night; two-for-one admissions at the American Museum of the Moving Image, Museum for African Art, the National Academy of Design Museum and more; restaurant savings, including 20% off lunch or dinner at the city's best restaurants.

NYC Summer Breaks 2004 is scheduled from June 1, 2004 through September 6, 2004.
