Q&A

Q: Besides the family getting together over the holidays, I was hoping to also take some of them to see other Christmas attractions. What cities are planning holiday events nearby?

A: You'll find lots of holly, mistletoe and other holiday lights and magic around southern Ontario during this time of year. To help you prepare for the holidays, the Southern Ontario Tourism Organization has a line-up of activities you can view at www.southernontario.org. Click on the section, "Holiday Lights and Magic In Southern Ontario" which details a variety of yuletide events and programs around the area.

Today, in Stratford, the Parade of Lights is set to transform the Shakespeare hub into a sparkling wonderland. While in St. Mary's, the historic hamlet is popular year-round. Nestled along the Thames River, it became known as "snow town" and was given this moniker for its beautifully cut limestone architecture pieces that dappled like snow.

Some of the stonemason's marvellous creations have remained in the historic downtown for all to admire. Antique shopping, B&Bs and charming restaurants make St. Mary's a favorite stop anytime.

Niagara-on-the-lake is preparing for its 14th Annual Candlelight Stroll, which is scheduled for Friday, December 5th at 6:30 pm with carolling by the Courthouse steps. In total, there are over 20 cities and attractions listed. For more information call 1.800.267.3399.
