Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: How can I get hold of tickets to the Oprah Winfrey Show? My sister and I are going to be in Chicago next month and I’d love to surprise her with a pair of tickets.

A: Besides being the People’s Choice Awards’ favourite talk-show host, the Oprah Winfrey Show has such a huge fan base that it makes it a challenge to get tickets. There are free limited tickets with advance reservations and these can be obtained by calling them at 312-591-9222 Monday through Friday 10am-4pm.

I’ve heard stories where people had to wait a couple of years in order to get audience passes to see the talk show diva. Last time I checked with the Oprah Winfrey Show, ticket reservations for January were already closed and reservations for February weren’t ready yet.

However, if you’re a real fan, you might wish to check back to her web site, Oprah.com regularly for updates. This site also has a handy Things To Know section.

If you want more info on the taping schedule, what reservation holders need to know, age requirements and other common questions, this is the virtual place to go. For instance, one viewer asked, “Should I bring my ID to the studio?” The show’s reply: “Yes, you must have a valid photo ID to enter the studio.”

Harpo Studios is located at 1058 West Washington in Chicago.
