Q: Is it cheaper to fly to Paris now?

A: Believe it or not, now is the perfect time to visit the City of Light. Since this is off-season, it means fewer crowds and more deals especially when it comes to airfare. You'll find from November through March, there are many discounts on tours and lodging throughout France. But do your homework and comparison-shop.

Visit travel agencies like Flight Centre. Their tag line is "World's Number One Discount Specialists". For reservations and flight information, call 1-888-967-5355 or log onto www.flightcentre.ca.

You'll find on web sites like Expedia.ca, big name airlines are listed making it a good starting point to see the base price. What often happens is the lower priced economy carriers don't make it on the radar.

Earlier this year CNN Money Magazine in an article entitled, "How To Get The Best Travel Deals" reported, "The key to finding the best deals is knowing which low-fare carriers serve your destination. But with most good-size cities, it's worth starting with one of the big booking sites, Expedia, Orbitz or Travelocity. The problem is that none of them gets you all of the carriers' fares." The lesson here: shop around.
