But you can also immerse yourself in culture, vibrant nightlife or shop along the newly remodeled Front Street of Philipsburg, the Dutch capital. For a dose of history, drop by the St. Maarten Museum on Front Street.

This recently restored 18th Century West Indian House has a breathtaking collection of Caribbean folklore and historical relics. Artists love the palette of rich colours that shine brightly in the tropical sunlight and as a result there are plenty of art galleries around to keep you busy.

Frank Hoedemaker, Commodore of the Sint Maarten Yacht Club says, “Participants from all over the world are entering the regatta and an expected 2500 sailors will grace the sunny shores of St. Maarten to sail, party, eat and enjoy the islands many activities. With over 250 entries in 2007 the regatta organization is expecting about the same turnout for 2008.”
