Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: Any chance on getting deals to Paris this winter?

A: Long running travel agencies like Flight Centre whose mantra is “unbeatable,” which in the biz is to give the best and lowest deal, are always good bets. The other day the company advertised a return ticket for $498 for travel between January 16 and January 23, 2008.

When seeing this type of deal, remember the tax and fees are extra so you need to add this to the ticket price. In the $498 Flight Centre ticket, there would be an additional charge of $288 for taxes and fees. For deals to be had, there’s also an online travel newsletter you can subscribe to that arrives in your email in-basket each Wednesday. It’s called Travel Zoo (www.travelzoo.com) and lists what it calls as the top 20 cheapest travel deals available that week.

I also recently saw a four-night trip offered by Arts and Leisure Tours to the City of Light. Their weekend winter getaway runs for $934 per person at a 3-star city centre hotel or $1,135 at a 4-star city centre hotel. The price includes roundtrip airfare from Toronto, four night’s accommodation in a 3- or 4-star hotel, breakfast daily, hotel taxes, service charges and city tour. Additional nights are available. Prices are per person based on double occupancy and are subject to availability.

Departure taxes are not included. The program is valid for departures from December 1, 2007 to February 29, 2008.

For more information, call Arts and Leisure Tours at (905) 850-8984 or toll-free 1-800-387-4110 or visit www.artsandleisuretours.com.
