Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: I have a grandmother living in a senior citizen's home. We would like to take her to see the tulips in Ottawa. When is the festival this year?

A: Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Canadian Tulip Festival runs from May 3 through May 20th. Highlighting this year's festivities will be a special visit by Princess Margriet of the Netherlands and her husband Pieter van Vollenhoven who have accepted the Canadian government's invitation to attend the 50th Anniversary celebration of the Canadian Tulip Festival. The Princess will be in Ottawa as an honorary attendee of the Festival during its second weekend from May 9 to 12, 2002.

For more information on schedules, events and other details about the festival visit the Tulip Festival web site at http://www.tulipfestival.ca/interface_frameset.html or telephone 1-800-66TULIP / (613) 567-5757 ext. 360.
