Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: My fiancée and I work for a bank and we were looking at taking some time off together at the same time. I don’t want to stray far away from home and he wants to do some cycling. We’re trying to come to compromise and so far it looks like it’ll be biking in the Eastern Townships. Any ideas are appreciated.

A: Great choice. With 500 kilometres of trails along the Véloroute des Cantons, the Eastern Townships are considered the premier cycling destination in Quebec. You’ll find the route is divided into seven circuits designed to let cyclists enjoy the most scenic corners of the region.

There are also a variety of packages, attractions and activities that are designed to appeal to any level of cyclist. If you don’t have time to plan your own itinerary take advantage of the one-stop-shopping packages offered online at www.easterntownships.org/cycling, the official tourism web site for the Eastern Townships.

For those independent cyclists who like to do their own thing you can also plan a tour with the help of an interactive map available online. Once in the region, be sure to pick up a copy of “Cycling the Eastern Townships Map” available at the tourism information centres.

You can also order a copy by visiting the tourism website or by calling 1-800-355-5755.
