Q&A

By Ilona Kauremszky

Q: Our kids are three and six years old and they have been asking us to do some fun swimming. We’re not interested in beaches. Do you know of some place nearby that might be suitable?

A: More parents are taking their kids to waterparks for some splish splash fun. And what a way to beat the heat! Canada just opened its first Great Wolf Lodge, a popular U.S. indoor waterpark resort franchise, in Niagara Falls located 2.5 miles north of the Falls across from the Whirlpool. The park which is akin to a mammoth size wooden lodge comes with its own 3,000 litre tipping bucket, four pools, two giant hot tubs, a huge wave pool and a spacious outdoor pool for summer fun.

Room rates include waterpark passes, and two days of play. For reservations, call 1.800.605.WOLF or visit greatwolf.com.

Outside New York City, there’s a giant outdoor water party located in Riverhead called Splish Splash. Kids will love the water cannons at the Pirate’s Cove, the lazy river as well as the dozens of adventure water rides sure to leave you wet.

For reservations, call Splish Splash at 631-727-3600 or visit www.splishsplashlongisland.com.

For a resource rich on amusement parks, you can log onto www.TicketForFun.com in which 1,200 amusement parks, entertainment centres, museums, and aquariums are listed. The web site reports that only attractions which have been approved by the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions have been listed.
